SERVICE TERM INFORMATION
Full Year vs Summer
Throughout the year, Up2Us Sports offers potential partners an opportunity to join the Up2Us Sports VISTA family. There are some differences between the two programs that both the VISTA and host sites should know.
FULL YEAR
LENGTH OF TERM: 1 Full Year
COST SHARE: $7,500 (host site portion of living allowance paid to VISTA)
VISTA DESCRIPTION: VISTA member support organizations in capacity building based organization specific needs. Over the course of one year, the VISTA should work in partnership with a specific department to enhance the organizations efficiency or effectiveness. 90 percent of the VISTAs time should be in capacity building.
FOR THE VISTA
LIVING ALLOWANCE: Based on the county where the organization is based.
WORK HOURS: The VISTA is expected to work 35-40 hours per week.
PROGRAM SUPPORT: 10-12 Professional Development Days. 10-12 communities of reflection, data tracking.
END OF SERVICE BENEFIT: $6,495 education award or $1,800 cash stipend
HEALTH CARE: Access to health care and child care benefits
RELOCATION BENEFITS: Access to relocation benefits if moving over 50 miles
NON-COMPETE: Non-compete eligibility after completion of service term
BACKGROUND CHECK: Background check by Americorps
SUMMER
LENGTH OF TERM: 8 or 9 Weeks
COST SHARE: $300 (host site portion of living allowance paid to VISTA)
VISTA DESCRIPTION: VISTA member should take on capacity building projects to support the organization's efficiency and/or effectiveness. Up2Us Summer VISTA's can serve in four key areas: Program Operations/Coaching, Marketing, Development or Community Engagement. Summer VISTAs are able to be utilized as capacity building VISTAs or capacity building coaches.
FOR THE VISTA
LIVING ALLOWANCE: Based on the county where the organization is based.
WORK HOURS: The VISTA is expected to work 35-40 hours per week.
PROGRAM SUPPORT: 2 Professional Development Days, 3 check in calls, data tracking.
END OF SERVICE BENEFIT: $1,374.60 education award or $311 cash stipend
HEALTH CARE: Not applicable to summer VISTAs.
RELOCATION BENEFITS: Not applicable to summer VISTAs.
NON-COMPETE: Not applicable to summer VISTAs.
